Enhanced Security and Member Experience: Costco Taiwan to Implement Digital Entrance Checks.
Costco Taiwan Introduces New Electronic Membership Card Scanning System in April!

Get ready, Costco shoppers in Taiwan! The popular American-style retail giant, Costco, is set to implement a significant change to its entry procedures starting April 1st. To better safeguard its membership-based system and improve the shopping experience, Costco will be introducing electronic membership card scanning at all entrances.

Previously, members were required to show their membership cards to staff members at the entrance. However, to address concerns about unauthorized entry and ensure the integrity of the membership benefits, Costco has announced the new system via its APP.

This change aims to eliminate potential errors in manual card checks and curb instances of non-members entering the store. This is a direct response to customer inquiries on social media platforms, with many asking when Taiwan would adopt a similar system to that used in the United States, where electronic scanning is already in place. The implementation of electronic scanning is designed to protect member rights and minimize issues like excessive sampling by non-members.
