China Airlines Soars to the Rescue: Free Aid Flights to Earthquake-Stricken Southeast Asia

Taipei, March 29th - In a display of solidarity and swift action, Taiwan's flag carrier, China Airlines, is providing crucial support to Thailand and Myanmar following a powerful earthquake that struck central Myanmar on Friday. The airline announced on Saturday that it will ship disaster relief supplies to the affected regions free of charge.

China Airlines stated its commitment to assisting Taiwanese nationals and other travelers impacted by the earthquake. The airline will collaborate with governmental entities and charitable organizations to effectively deliver aid to the areas devastated by the temblor.

According to China Airlines, its flight operations to and from Yangon, Myanmar's commercial hub, and Chiang Mai in northern Thailand remain unaffected. This ensures the continued flow of essential services and the ability to provide assistance to those in need.

Furthermore, China Airlines is offering flexible travel options. Passengers holding tickets for flights to and from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Yangon with travel dates before April 15th can cancel or change their flights without incurring any fees. This policy is designed to alleviate the burden on travelers during this challenging period.

In a show of unified support, other Taiwanese airlines are following suit. EVA Airways announced on its website that tickets to and from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Yangon issued before March 29th for travel between March 29th and April 30th can be canceled or modified once without charge. Similarly, Starlux Airlines is allowing free cancellations or changes for flights to and from Bangkok and Chiang Mai with travel dates prior to April 4th.

The magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, causing significant damage across the country and in neighboring Thailand. This combined effort of Taiwanese airlines highlights the nation's commitment to humanitarian assistance and its dedication to supporting those affected by natural disasters in Southeast Asia.
