A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, causing significant tremors felt across Thailand. Bangkok experienced strong shaking, affecting several buildings. Residents in various parts of China, including Yunnan and Kunming, also felt the impact of the seismic event.

Of particular concern, a 30-story high-rise building under construction in Bangkok has collapsed, with initial reports indicating at least three fatalities and 81 individuals missing, according to local media.

The building, located in the Chatuchak district of Bangkok, commenced construction in 2020. The total investment was approximately 2.136 billion Thai Baht (equivalent to roughly 488 million Hong Kong dollars). The structure was intended to serve as the new office building for the Thai Auditor-General's office. The project was a joint venture between ITD-CREC, comprising Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited and China Railway 10th Bureau Group Co.,Ltd. (Thailand).
