President Lai Ching-teh Addresses Concerns Regarding the Death of Air Force Sergeant Tsai Hsueh-liang

During a visit to the Taitung Tianhou Temple on May 22nd, President Lai Ching-teh encountered a woman seeking his attention. The woman, eventually escorted away by security personnel, later prompted President Lai to take action after learning of her concerns.

The woman, Yu Jui-min, is the mother of Tsai Hsueh-liang, an Air Force sergeant who died on May 9, 2008, during a live-fire exercise with the T65 rifle at a military shooting range. Official investigations concluded Tsai Hsueh-liang's death was a suicide, and a death certificate was issued within 18 hours.

However, the family of Tsai Hsueh-liang has consistently disputed the official findings, citing unresolved questions and seeking a renewed investigation to uncover the true circumstances surrounding his death. Yu Jui-min has been tirelessly petitioning for years in the hopes of revealing the truth about her son's passing.
