Unexpected Resurrection: Taiwanese Man Declared Dead for 17 Years Found Alive

A remarkable situation has unfolded in Taiwan, where a man from Chiayi County, presumed dead and legally declared so for over 17 years, has been unexpectedly discovered alive. The man, who had been reported missing for years, was recently admitted to a medical facility and subsequently transferred to a nursing home in Changhua.

The man's wife was notified to confirm his identity. This surprising turn of events prompted the Changhua District Prosecutors Office to petition for the revocation of the death declaration. The Changhua District Court has since ruled in favor of revoking the declaration.

According to the Changhua District Prosecutors Office, the man disappeared in January 2001. After the statutory seven-year period of absence, the family petitioned the Chiayi District Court for a death declaration. The court granted the declaration, legally declaring the man deceased as of January 15, 2008, at 12:00 PM.
