Taiwan Health Company Faces Investigation in Vietnam Over Alleged Pyramid Scheme

Kaohsiung-Based Ame Global Accused of Investment Fraud Involving Mushroom Supplements

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Authorities in Vietnam are investigating a Taiwanese health supplement company, Ame Global, for allegedly operating a pyramid scheme related to its mushroom-based products. The company, headquartered in Kaohsiung, is accused of defrauding investors through a multi-level marketing operation.

According to reports, Vietnamese police arrested 12 individuals linked to Ame Healthy Global Intl. The company sells health supplements and traditional Chinese medicine ingredients. Coordinated raids were conducted on May 21st across multiple locations, including Lang Son Province, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai Province. It is estimated that around 9,000 individuals have been affected by the scheme.

The main suspect is Huang Wen-yen, a 47-year-old Taiwanese citizen and the company’s chair, who is currently being sought by Vietnamese law enforcement.

Ame Global reportedly partnered with a local affiliate, WIN ALL Trading Company, to promote a mushroom-based supplement called Nguu Chuong Chi. The product was advertised online to attract investment, and authorities believe the scheme may have raised tens of millions of US dollars before being stopped.

Investors were required to contribute an initial investment of US$550 (NT$15,000) to receive product samples and join the business. The scheme reportedly had 20 levels, with top-tier investors promised up to 10% of company sales.

Of the estimated 9,000 affected individuals, approximately 7,700 are Vietnamese citizens. The remaining individuals are primarily Taiwanese, Chinese, and Malaysian.
