Authorities Investigate After 60-Year-Old Man Found Dead at Popular Tourist Spot

Pingtung, Taiwan - A tragic incident occurred today at the Salawan Waterfall in Majia Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan, resulting in the death of a man.

Police received a report at 12:45 PM today, alerting them to a man in distress at the waterfall. Emergency services, including personnel from the First Brigade and Special Search and Rescue teams, responded promptly. A total of eight vehicles and eighteen personnel, equipped with drones and rescue equipment, were dispatched to the scene.

The man was recovered from the water at 2:25 PM. Sadly, upon being brought to the surface, it was clear he had already passed away. Preliminary information indicates the deceased was approximately 60 years old. The exact identity of the man and the circumstances surrounding how he entered the water are currently under investigation by the authorities.
