Taiwanese Father Arrested After Pokémon Dispute Escalates

A 37-year-old man, identified as Zheng, in New Taipei City, Taiwan, was arrested on the evening of April 24th after an altercation stemming from a dispute at a Pokémon card game machine. The incident involved Zheng's son and a 43-year-old man named Chen.

According to reports, the incident began when Chen allegedly reprimanded Zheng's son while they were playing the Pokémon card game machine outside a stationery store on Sanmin Road. Feeling aggrieved, Zheng took his son home, only to return to the scene armed with a knife, still in its sheath.


Upon returning, Zheng confronted Chen. During the confrontation, Zheng allegedly brandished the knife, but lost his grip, causing the weapon to fall. A physical struggle ensued, and both men fell to the ground. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested Zheng on charges of intimidation. The case has been referred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation.
