Tigerair Taiwan Takes Flight: New Kaohsiung-Sendai Route to Boost Travel

Taipei, May 5 – Tigerair Taiwan announced on Monday the launch of a new route connecting Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with Sendai, Japan, set to take off in July. This exciting development underscores the growing demand for travel between Taiwan and Japan.

According to a press release, the China Airlines subsidiary will initially operate the service three times a week. Flight IT-772 is scheduled to depart from Kaohsiung International Airport every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 1:25 p.m.

The return flight, IT-773, will depart from Sendai on the same days at 7 p.m. Tigerair Taiwan, the island's sole budget carrier, aims to provide affordable and accessible travel options.

Travelers eager to explore the new route can snag tickets at discounted rates starting Tuesday on the Tigerair Taiwan website. This presents an excellent opportunity for budget-conscious travelers.

This marks the airline's 11th international route originating from Kaohsiung, further solidifying its commitment to expanding its network. Previous routes include Sapporo, Tokyo Narita, Nagoya, Osaka, Okayama, Okinawa, Gimpo, Macau, and Da Nang.

Japan continues to reign as the most popular destination for Taiwanese travelers. Tourism data clearly reflects this trend.

In 2024, approximately 6.006 million Taiwanese travelers visited Japan, making it the top foreign destination. This is followed by 2.77 million to China, and 1.43 million to South Korea, according to data from Taiwan's Tourism Administration.
