Controversy in Taiwan: Governor's Actions During Mazu Festival Spark Debate

A recent incident involving Yunlin County Magistrate, **Chang Li-shan**, at a religious ceremony in Taiwan has ignited a wave of discussion. During the pre-dawn rituals at the Gongtian Temple, Chang Li-shan was seen gesturing for the incense burner host to move, leading to some controversy.

Later, at the Fuan Temple in Shengang, Changhua, the Mazu palanquin did not stop. These events have prompted considerable debate. Hong Wen-hua, the head of the Gongtian Temple, has addressed the situation, stating that Chang Li-shan's actions were not malicious and urging the public to refrain from criticism. He explained that the area was crowded with dignitaries, and the Magistrate did not know the incense burner host. Regarding the Fuan Temple incident, Hong Wen-hua clarified that the palanquin had already rested prior and was on its way, and that the Magistrate had no influence on its movement.
