Taichung ACG Expo: A Celebration of Animation, Comics, and Games Draws Massive Crowds

Taichung, Taiwan - The Taichung International Animation Comics and Games (ACG) Expo opened its doors on Thursday, drawing an unprecedented wave of enthusiastic fans. Organizers reported overwhelming crowds eager to experience the latest in animation, comics, and gaming.

The timing of the event, coinciding with the start of a four-day holiday weekend, coupled with the introduction of major mobile gaming companies, contributed to long lines of attendees that stretched outside the Taichung International Exhibition Center.

The Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association anticipates over 100,000 visitors on the first day alone, with total attendance projected to surpass 320,000 throughout the four-day event. This surge reflects the expo's growing popularity within Taiwan and across the broader ACG community.

This year marks the largest expo to date, featuring 72 renowned companies and nearly 300 booths, showcasing the diversity and innovation within the industry. The inclusion of mobile gaming giants is expected to significantly boost attendance, potentially surpassing last year's record of nearly 300,000 visitors.

Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕), speaking at the opening ceremony, highlighted the event's role in solidifying Taichung's reputation as "the city of animation, comics and games." She further announced plans for a series of major events in the coming year, demonstrating the city's long-term commitment to the ACG scene.

These upcoming events include the Taichung Comic Arts Festival in the second half of 2025 and the Taichung International Animation Festival in October, promising even more opportunities for fans and industry professionals alike.

Furthermore, Mayor Lu encouraged visitors to explore the National Taiwan Museum of Comics, which opened in downtown Taichung in 2023, a testament to the city's investment in the sector. The city aims to expand its influence in the animation and comics industry while fostering its long-term growth.
