The tragic incident at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store in Taichung, Taiwan, on February 13th, resulting in five fatalities, has been officially attributed to a gas explosion. Today, the Taichung City Government announced the findings of a 47-day investigation conducted by the Fire Department's fire investigators.

The investigation team, under the direction of the prosecutor, established a special task force and conducted 13 site inspections, involving nearly 100 personnel. Crucial evidence, including cigarette butts, electrical wires, gas pipes, and a circular cutter, was recovered from the 12th floor. The resulting investigation report, now officially accepted by the committee, confirms that the cause of the explosion was a gas leak. The report has been submitted to the local prosecutor's office and police for further investigation and prosecution to fully elucidate the details surrounding the incident.
