Pilgrimage Prep: Changes for Mazu Devotees in Changhua During the Dajia and Baishatun Mazu Processions

The annual pilgrimage of Mazu, including the Dajia and Baishatun Mazu processions, is a significant event in Taiwan, drawing thousands of devotees. While these religious journeys are a symbol of faith and community, this year’s event brings a change for those traversing through Changhua City.

For the past 19 years, the Changhua County Government has opened its courtyard to pilgrims and devotees during the processions, offering a welcome resting place. However, due to ongoing structural reinforcement work on the Changhua County Government building, the courtyard will be inaccessible this year.

While the courtyard is closed, the County Government will provide access to the restrooms on the first floor. Additionally, the public can find respite at the plaza in front of the County Library and the County Art Museum.

The Dajia Zhenlan Temple's annual 9-day, 8-night pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on April 4th. The procession is expected to arrive in Changhua City on the outward journey on April 5th, and return on April 11th.
