Diesel Fragments Identified as Source of Contamination in Keelung and Xizhi Tap Water

Keelung Legislator Lin Pei-hsiang announced today that he, along with Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang and New Taipei Legislator Liao Hsien-hsiang, met with the General Manager of the Water Corporation, Li Ting-lai, to discuss the tap water oil contamination incident. The meeting focused on compensation plans and water quality improvement measures. General Manager Li Ting-lai stated that "diesel fragments" have been identified as the likely source of the contamination.

The contamination occurred when the Water Corporation's Badu pumping station drew water from the Keelung River, which had been polluted by oil. This led to tap water supplied by the Shinshan Water Treatment Plant in Keelung City and Xizhi District, New Taipei City, having an unusual odor, significantly impacting residents' daily lives.
