Kaohsiung Faces Widespread Water Outage: 10-Hour Disruption Affects 600,000 Households on December 7th

Residents of Kaohsiung are urged to prepare for a substantial water outage scheduled for December 7th. Taiwan Water Corporation (Taishui Company) will be conducting essential electrical equipment inspections at the Chengcing Lake Water Treatment Plant's 69kV substation. This maintenance is mandated annually to ensure the stability and reliability of the power supply system, as per regulations.

The planned shutdown will commence at 8:00 AM on December 7th and is expected to last for approximately 10 hours. The disruption will impact water supply in 11 administrative districts, including Sanmin, Lingya, and Renwu. An estimated 600,000 households are anticipated to be affected by the water pressure reduction and subsequent outage.

To minimize inconvenience and avoid multiple disruptions, Taishui Company will take advantage of this scheduled downtime to carry out several other critical infrastructure projects simultaneously. These include the dismantling of existing substations, improvements to pipeline crossings within box culverts in the Qianzhen District, and repairs to a 1500mm pipeline in Yonghong Lane, Renwu District.
