Taiwan Braces for Pleasant Sunday Before Return of Cooler, Wetter Weather

Taiwan is set to experience a pleasant Sunday with rising temperatures across the island. However, this period of warmth will be short-lived, as cooler and wetter conditions are anticipated to return to the northern regions starting Monday evening, driven by strengthening northeasterly winds, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

As seasonal winds weaken and moisture levels decrease, Sunday is expected to bring mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies throughout Taiwan. Brief showers are anticipated only in localized areas, including the north coast, eastern Taiwan, the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, and mountainous regions near Greater Taipei, the CWA reported.

Daytime high temperatures are forecast to reach between 25 to 27 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Taiwan. Central and southern regions are expected to be warmer, with highs ranging from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The CWA also noted that offshore islands will largely enjoy sunny conditions. However, some coastal areas might experience strong winds or significant wave activity. Additionally, fog could reduce visibility in central and southern Taiwan from late Sunday into early Monday.

Looking ahead to Monday, a slight increase in moisture is expected, leading to scattered daytime showers in northern and northeastern areas. Forecasters predict that from Monday evening, the strengthening northeasterly winds will bring rain to a broader section of northern Taiwan.

Temperatures are projected to begin their descent on Monday night. From late Tuesday into early Wednesday, lows are expected to be between 14 to 16 degrees Celsius in northern, northeastern, and central Taiwan. Southern and eastern parts of the island will likely see lows of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, according to the CWA.

The cooler morning temperatures are anticipated to persist through Friday.
