Taiwan Braces for Cooler Temperatures and Increased Rainfall as Northeast Monsoon Approaches

Meteorological expert Wu Der-rong has indicated that early this morning, temperatures in central and southern Taiwan were even lower than the previous day. The island's plains recorded a low of 12.8 degrees Celsius. While temperatures are expected to rise during the day, northern Taiwan will remain cool, central and southern regions will experience comfortable daytime weather, and early mornings and evenings will be slightly chilly across the island. However, a minor northeast monsoon is predicted to move south early next week, bringing cooler temperatures to northern Taiwan and an increased probability of rain in windward areas.

In an article for his weather column "Xie Tian Ji Jiao Shi," Wu Der-rong explained that the cold air slightly weakened this morning. Due to radiative cooling, temperatures in central and southern Taiwan were lower than yesterday morning. As of 6:11 AM, the lowest temperature recorded in the plains of Taiwan was 12.8 degrees Celsius at the Miaogai Nantou Fengchang (Mingjian Township, Nantou County). Minimum temperatures in plains areas across various regions were around 13 to 14 degrees Celsius.
