Taiwan Welcomes Layover Travelers with NT$600 Vouchers to Boost Airport Spending

Foreign travelers making a brief stopover in Taiwan will now receive a NT$600 (approximately US$19.48) gift voucher, effective from Saturday. This initiative, launched by the Tourism Administration, is designed to encourage spending at Taoyuan International Airport and promote Taiwan's offerings to international visitors.

The program is open to travelers holding non-Republic of China (Taiwan) passports who are transiting through Taiwan for up to 24 hours. The Tourism Administration hopes this incentive will highlight Taiwan's attractions even during short layovers.

To be eligible, travelers must first register for the campaign online. Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, they can present their passport and boarding pass for their connecting international flight at the Tourism Administration's Visitor Service Centers in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 to receive their voucher.

The NT$600 voucher can be used at a variety of participating merchants within the airport. This includes dining establishments, duty-free shops, souvenir stores, and other retail services. A comprehensive list of participating businesses is available on the campaign website.

Taoyuan International Airport, serving as Taiwan's primary international gateway, handles a significant volume of transit passengers. In 2024, the airport recorded 178,698 transit passengers, according to Taoyuan International Airport Corp.

By offering these vouchers, the Tourism Administration aims to inspire international travelers to explore Taiwan's culinary delights, cultural elements, and the amenities available at the airport during their layover. This initiative is also intended to support the growth of airport businesses and contribute to the diverse development of Taiwan's tourism sector.

The campaign, titled "Enter Taiwan, Enjoy a Gift!", is currently accepting online registrations and will continue until October 31, 2026.
