Spectacular Autumn Colors Emerge at Taiwan's Shanlinxi Forest: A Guide to the Best Viewing Spots and Activities

As autumn gracefully arrives, the season for admiring vibrant foliage is upon us. At the Shanlinxi Forest Ecological Resort in Nantou, Taiwan, species like the Japanese Maple and Chinese Maple are rapidly transforming into brilliant shades of red. Already, pockets of the landscape are adorned with stunning crimson hues. Adding to the visual spectacle, the popular "bobble grass" and Ginkgo trees are also beginning to change their colors.

The resort has announced special events to complement the autumn display, including complimentary guided firefly tours and stargazing sessions, commencing this weekend. Visitors are encouraged to seize this opportunity to ascend the mountain and immerse themselves in the natural splendor.

Shanlinxi Forest, situated at an altitude between 1600 and 1800 meters, boasts an impressive collection of deciduous trees. With approximately 3,000 Chinese Maples, 1,000 Japanese Maples, and 800 Sweet Gum trees, the area becomes a prime destination for autumn leaf viewing each year. Complementing these are golden Ginkgo trees and golden Swamp Cypress, known for their changing foliage. This year, the resort has also significantly expanded its planting of "bobble grass," with over 6,000 plants now contributing to the colorful autumn panorama.
