Taiwan Issues National Alerts for Severe Winds and Coastal Waves

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued multiple severe weather warnings across the island, with a particular focus on the northern regions. Residents have been receiving national-level alerts regarding strong winds and potential coastal hazards.

The Central Weather Administration continues to issue a "Heavy Rain Special Report" for seven counties and cities. Northern Taiwan, along with the Yilan and Hualien areas, are experiencing localized rainfall at or above the heavy rain level, accompanied by short-duration intense rainfall and strong gusts. Simultaneously, a "Land Strong Wind Special Report" has been issued for 18 counties and cities, indicating a significantly strong northeasterly wind with a probability of localized gusts exceeding level 11. Many residents in various areas have successively received "National Level Alert" disaster prevention messages, warning of potential "level 10 strong gusts," and some coastal residents have even received "coastal giant wave alerts."

Influenced by the northeasterly monsoon and a low-pressure system, the weather administration issued a "Heavy Rain Special Report" again around 5 PM today. The Central Emergency Operation Center reported that northeastern regions, the Keelung North Coast, and the greater Taipei area are experiencing localized rainfall at or above the heavy rain level. Evacuations have already occurred in northern Taiwan. Additionally, Taipei, New Taipei City, and Yilan have issued red alerts for potential debris flows in susceptible streams, while Fuxing District in Taoyuan and Jianshi Township in Hsinchu have issued yellow alerts for potential large-scale landslides.
