A startling incident occurred at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport on the 27th, involving a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and an Airbus A321. The wingtip of the Boeing 787 reportedly sliced through the vertical stabilizer of the Airbus A321, an event described as being like a "hot knife through butter." Both aircraft sustained damage, and dramatic video footage of the collision has been widely shared on social media.

The incident took place around 2 PM local time. The Boeing 787-9 was taxiing for departure to Ho Chi Minh City. At the intersection of taxiways S3 and S, the starboard wingtip of the Dreamliner made contact with the vertical tail fin of an Airbus A321 that was preparing to fly to Dien Bien Phu.
