Severe Weather Halts Flights at Taiwan's Southern Airports

Bad weather conditions on Sunday led to temporary suspensions of ground operations at Kaohsiung International Airport and Tainan Airport, significantly impacting several flights. The Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of Taiwan reported these disruptions.

Kaohsiung International Airport ceased ground operations for a period of 45 minutes, starting at 3:15 p.m. and resuming at 4:00 p.m. This halt affected a total of 12 flights.

Similarly, Tainan Airport experienced a suspension of its ground operations from 4:41 p.m. until 5:37 p.m., impacting two flights, as stated by the agency.

The CAA indicated that these delays might also have a ripple effect on other airports connected to Tainan. Airports were advised to promptly inform passengers of potential disruptions through various communication channels, including bulletin boards, electronic displays, and public address systems.

Earlier in the day, Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) had issued forecasts predicting extremely heavy rainfall for Kaohsiung, with heavy rain anticipated in Tainan and surrounding areas.
