A woman in Hualien, Taiwan, was rescued after falling overboard from a whale watching boat. The incident, which occurred during a recent excursion, underscores the importance of safety while enjoying the scenic beauty of the region.

The accident happened on a recent afternoon tour, with the woman reportedly losing her balance while taking photos. Fortunately, she was wearing a life vest, allowing her to stay afloat. The crew quickly responded, throwing a life ring to the passenger and bringing her back on board.

According to the whale watching operator, 呂世明 (Lyu Shi-ming), the crew immediately initiated emergency procedures. The captain stopped the boat to locate the woman, and the tour guide used a microphone to reassure her, advising her to stay calm and maintain a stable floating position. After being brought back on board, the woman was checked for injuries and found to be unharmed.

呂世明 (Lyu Shi-ming) emphasized that this incident highlighted the necessity of rigorous safety protocols. He stressed that all passengers are required to wear properly fitted life vests before the boat leaves the dock. He also mentioned that according to the passenger, she may have been standing too close to the edge of the boat while taking photos and lost her balance.

呂世明 (Lyu Shi-ming) reminded tourists to prioritize safety while taking photos, suggesting they avoid standing too close to the edge of the boat or turning their backs to the ocean while using their phones.
