Keelung to Ishigaki Ferry: A New Travel Route for Taiwan Opens Soon

Taipei, June 3 - Anticipation builds as ticket sales for the highly anticipated ferry service between Keelung City, Taiwan, and Ishigaki Island, Japan, are poised to launch "within a month at the soonest," according to Wagon Group's General Manager Hung Yu-hang (洪郁航). The route is slated to commence operations in September, offering a convenient new travel option.

Hung shared insights into the pricing structure, revealing that one-way tickets between the Taiwanese city and the Japanese island, situated approximately 260 kilometers east of Taiwan, will vary depending on the cabin class. He indicated that the price point would be "something close to NT$3,000 (US$100)."

The ferry, the Yaima Maru, is designed to accommodate up to 545 passengers. Planned voyages are tentatively scheduled to be overnight, allowing passengers to enjoy onboard accommodations and arrive at their destination the next morning.

Travelers can anticipate purchasing tickets through partner travel agencies and an online booking system once the pricing details are finalized.

Hung further elaborated that the service will provide a variety of options, including individual ferry tickets and comprehensive package deals that may include hotel stays and fully planned itineraries, catering to diverse travel preferences.
