AirAsia Soars: New Taipei-Fukuoka Route to Take Flight

Taipei, Taiwan – AirAsia is set to launch a new flight route connecting Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taiwan with Fukuoka Airport (FUK) in Japan, starting August 15th. The low-cost carrier made the announcement on Monday, marking a significant expansion of its East Asia network.

Tickets are currently available for purchase on AirAsia's website, with daily flights planned for the route. This new service is part of AirAsia's Sabah (Kota Kinabalu) to Fukuoka itinerary.

This marks AirAsia's debut in Japan's Kyushu Island and becomes the airline’s 13th route operating with Taiwan as a connecting point. AirAsia highlighted that the new route will further solidify the role of Kota Kinabalu as a major air hub in Southeast Asia.

The airline aims to strengthen ties between Asian nations through its expanding network, fostering both tourism and economic development. Japan is a key destination for Taiwanese travelers. The Tourism Bureau statistics showed over 1.08 million Taiwanese citizens visited Japan between January and February this year alone.

The popularity of Japan among Taiwanese tourists has prompted other airlines to introduce new routes. Starlux will also be expanding its operations in Japan in August, offering limited flights to Miyakojima. Additionally, Tigerair has launched routes to Tottori and Oita, while China Airlines has resumed flights to Ishigaki Island. Eva Air has also initiated flights connecting Taoyuan and Kobe.
