TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Yilan County welcomed visitors during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday with the enchanting Dongshan Hot Air Balloon Carnival.

The festival, situated on picturesque farmland near the Dongshan River, launched on Saturday and will continue for two weekends, culminating on June 8th. Attendees can immerse themselves in a world of vibrant hot air balloon designs, enjoy tethered rides, explore local craft markets, and enjoy live musical performances, as reported by CNA.

Evening entertainment includes a captivating light show, with another scheduled for Saturday, June 7th, starting at 7:00 p.m. The Dongshan Township has been organizing the annual Hot Air Balloon Carnival since 2018, with each year seeing increasing popularity. This year's festival features a special addition: a hot air balloon representing Kaohsiung City. Last year's public debut introduced Hero, a cute cartoon version of a Formosan Black Bear, who serves as Kaohsiung’s mascot.
