Japan's Tourist Boom: Taiwan Ranks Third as Foreign Visitors Surge

Following the global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan's tourism sector continues to experience remarkable growth. According to data released on May 21st by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of foreign visitors to Japan in April 2025 reached a record-breaking 3.9 million, the highest monthly figure ever recorded. Taiwan holds a prominent position, ranking third overall. China and South Korea lead the list.

Many travelers are making multiple trips to Japan this year, some having already visited more than once, and even exceeding five visits for some enthusiasts.

林氏璧 (Lin Shi-Bi), a travel expert, shared insights on the "日本自助旅遊中毒者 (Japan Self-Service Travel Addicts)" Facebook fan page, noting that the JNTO's latest report indicates a total of 3,908,900 visitors in April 2025, surpassing the previous record of 3.78 million set in January 2025. This marks a new monthly high. The cumulative number of visitors in the first four months of the year has already exceeded 3.25 million, with a total of 14.4466 million visits, a 24.5% increase compared to the 11.6 million recorded during the same period last year.
