TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival is currently enchanting visitors with its "Disney Midsummer Joy" theme.

This beachside spectacle showcases 44 intricately crafted sand sculptures, brought to life by 15 talented domestic and international sand sculptors. The exhibition features over 80 beloved Disney and Pixar characters, offering a nostalgic journey for all ages until September 30th, according to CNA.

One of the major highlights of this year's festival is a stunning tribute to "Toy Story 3," standing at 2.5 meters and celebrating the animated film's 30th anniversary. Other Pixar favorites, such as "Cars" and "Elio," are also brilliantly represented.

Classic Disney tales are equally celebrated, with characters like Ursula from "The Little Mermaid," the Wicked Queen from "Snow White," and Cruella De Vil from "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" making their debut at the Fulong festival. Each of these characters were specially crafted for this event.

During the opening ceremony on Saturday, Tourism Administration Deputy Director Huang Ho-ting (黃荷婷) noted the widespread popularity of the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival, drawing visitors from across Taiwan. She also suggested that visitors rent bicycles to experience the beauty of the northeast coast, according to a press release.

Suggested bike routes include the historic Old Caoling Tunnel, the Shicheng Service Area, Blue Bay Coffee, and Cliff House. The area's romantic cafes, taking advantage of the unique natural scenery, provide perfect photo opportunities.

Huang highlighted the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration's recognition as one of the world's top 100 green destinations for nine consecutive years. Through events such as the sand sculpture exhibition, the area aims to attract more domestic and international tourists to experience its natural splendor.

In addition, a range of themed activities are planned, including the Sea Breeze Concert and Mountain and Sea Market, scheduled for August 9-10 at the Fulong Lawn Plaza, which is near Fulong Beach. The concert will feature popular singer-songwriters and bands representing diverse musical genres.
