The Curious Case of the Trash-Tossing Canine: A Taichung Mystery

A dog's late-night escapades leave residents puzzled and authorities amused in Taiwan.

In Taichung City, Taiwan, under the elevated bridge along Gangwei Road in Daya District, a mystery unfolded. Residents were frustrated by the frequent appearance of scattered trash, leading to complaints and inquiries. The Taichung City Environmental Protection Bureau's Daya District cleaning team launched an investigation, setting up surveillance to uncover the culprit behind the mess.

To everyone's surprise, the "criminal" turned out to be a yellow dog. Surveillance footage showed the dog, under the cover of night, targeting trash bags left outside homes for collection. The dog would grab a bag and run to the open space under the overpass, where it would then tear it open, scattering the contents.

The scene caused considerable confusion, with passersby initially assuming human involvement. The Environmental Protection Bureau is currently working to determine whether the dog is a stray and considering appropriate next steps. This unusual case underscores the importance of investigating all possibilities when addressing environmental concerns in Taichung.
