Shock in Taipei: Korean Student Attacked in Ximending

In a startling incident, a Korean student was attacked in Taipei's vibrant Ximending district early this morning. The assault occurred around 6:00 AM on Kunming Street in Wanhua District.

The victim, identified as a Korean 留學生 (liuxuesheng, or international student) named Mr. Shin, was walking with a friend when a 39-year-old man, Mr. Zhou, allegedly confronted him. The assailant, reportedly angered by the student's perceived gaze, drew a knife and attacked Mr. Shin, striking him in the back before fleeing the scene.

Mr. Shin was rushed to Zhongxing Hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening. This event has raised immediate concerns about safety in one of Taipei's most popular and densely populated areas.
