A significant earthquake, measuring 7.3 in magnitude, struck the Tonga Islands in Oceania at approximately 8:19 PM Taiwan time this evening. The epicenter of the quake was located at 173.40 degrees West longitude and 20.60 degrees South latitude.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has assessed that the earthquake could potentially generate a tsunami threat throughout the Pacific region.
