Taiwanese Travelers Gain Seamless Entry to New Zealand with New e-Gate Service

Taiwanese citizens holding biometric passports can now enjoy expedited immigration processing in New Zealand, marking a significant enhancement for travelers. As of Monday, New Zealand officially launched its Automated Immigration Clearance (e-Gate) service for Taiwanese passport holders, making it the eighth country worldwide to offer this convenience.

This development is the result of collaborative efforts between Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior (MOI) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), working closely with New Zealand's immigration authorities. The new service is available to Taiwanese nationals traveling to New Zealand for tourism, business, or educational purposes.

To utilize the e-Gate service, travelers are required to complete the New Zealand Traveler Online Declaration form at least 24 hours prior to their arrival in the country. This step is essential for gaining access to the automated clearance gates.

New Zealand now joins a distinguished list of countries that provide e-Gate access to Taiwanese passport holders. This list includes South Korea, Australia, Italy, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United States.

In a demonstration of reciprocal international cooperation, Taiwan is also preparing to offer e-Gate service to holders of New Zealand biometric passports. The MOI and MOFA anticipate this service will be available by November or December.

The introduction of this streamlined immigration process is expected to further facilitate travel between Taiwan and New Zealand, which sees an average of 60,000 travelers annually.
