Typhoon Halong Expected to Intensify, Forecasted to Curve Away from Taiwan

Typhoon Halong is anticipated to become a super typhoon today. According to meteorological expert Wu Der-rong, the latest forecast maps from the Central Weather Administration indicate that the moderate typhoon Halong will intensify into a super typhoon. It is expected to make a large turn northeastward in the seas south of Japan. The probability of it directly impacting mainland Japan is not high, and it will remain far from Taiwan, posing no threat.

Wu Der-rong, writing in a column for the "Meteorological Application Promotion Foundation," stated that simulations from the latest European model (ECMWF) suggest that from today until National Day (October 10th), a weak northeasterly wind will bring slightly increased moisture to Taiwan's eastern coast. There is a chance of occasional localized brief showers in the northern coast, eastern parts of Greater Taipei, and eastern Taiwan. Most other areas will remain sunny to partly cloudy, with a chance of isolated afternoon showers in mountainous regions. No significant cold air is expected. Daytime high temperatures in northern Taiwan may slightly decrease due to increased cloud cover, while other regions will continue to experience warm daytime weather.
