Taiwan Braces for Cooler Temperatures as Northeast Monsoon Approaches

Starting tomorrow and continuing for three days, Taiwan can anticipate an increased probability of rainfall due to the influence of the northeast monsoon. This weather pattern is expected to bring localized brief showers to the northern coast, northeastern regions, and the Hengchun Peninsula. Eastern Taiwan may experience scattered brief showers, while the central and southern parts of the island could see localized thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The Central Weather Administration has forecast a stronger wave of the northeast monsoon arriving next Friday and Saturday. This will likely lead to a noticeable decrease in temperatures, with daytime highs potentially dropping below 30 degrees Celsius.

According to Central Weather Administration forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan, the initial wave of the northeast monsoon, driven by a cold high-pressure system from the mainland, began strengthening today. From tomorrow through Friday, this monsoon will affect the northern coast, northeastern areas, and the Hengchun Peninsula with localized brief showers. Eastern Taiwan is expected to have scattered brief showers. The western half of the island will generally be cloudy to clear, with a chance of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon in the central and southern regions.
