Taiwan Braces for Intense Rainfall and Cooler Temperatures as Typhoon Fengshen Approaches

Taiwan is anticipating a period of intense rainfall and cooler weather as Typhoon Fengshen draws near, coinciding with the influence of a northeast monsoon. The northern and eastern parts of the island are expected to experience the most severe precipitation over the next two days.

Following this, a low-pressure trough to the east will continue to affect the region from Wednesday to Saturday, maintaining noticeable rainfall. Looking ahead to Sunday, a more potent northeast monsoon is forecast to move south, potentially bringing nighttime temperatures down to as low as 20 degrees Celsius across various locations.

According to a forecaster from the Central Weather Administration, the current northeast monsoon and the outer circulation of Typhoon Fengshen are already contributing to rainfall. While the immediate area above Taiwan has seen a lull in precipitation, convective cloud systems continue to move in from the seas east of the island, impacting the northern and eastern regions.
