Typhoon Halong Intensifies, Takes Northeast Turn Away from Taiwan

Meteorological expert Wu Der-rong has indicated that the latest simulations from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) show Typhoon Halong, currently a moderate typhoon, will make a significant turn northeastward in the waters south of Japan. This trajectory suggests a low probability of it impacting Japan. While Halong is expected to strengthen considerably, potentially nearing super typhoon status, its considerable distance from Taiwan means there will be no effect on the island.

In his column for the "Meteorological Application Promotion Foundation," Wu Der-rong further explained that current weather patterns across Taiwan are predicted to be clear and hot during the day. Localized brief showers may occur in mountainous areas in the afternoon. Starting tonight, there is a chance of isolated rainfall along the northern coast and in eastern Taiwan.
