Black Smoke Erupts from China Steel Factory in Kaohsiung's Xiaogang District Following Pipeline Fire

A fire broke out at a factory located on Zhonglin Road in Kaohsiung's Xiaogang District this morning at approximately 9:41 AM. The fire department dispatched 11 vehicles and 27 personnel to the scene to manage the situation. Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred at a China Steel (中鋼) factory, involving a fire in a pipeline. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or individuals trapped.

China Steel has issued a statement regarding the incident. They explained that one of the exhaust fans in their coking plant experienced an abnormal shutdown at 9:41 AM. As a result, some coke oven gas could not be drawn by the malfunctioning exhaust fan and was instead released through natural venting for disposal. The company's internal fire brigade was immediately deployed to control the situation. The fire was brought under control by 10:20 AM. China Steel confirmed that no personnel were injured. Investigations are currently underway to determine the extent of equipment damage and the cause of the exhaust fan's malfunction.
