Taoyuan Airport MRT Experiences Disruptions Due to Electrical Issues

Thousands of travelers affected by two separate incidents on the same day.

An electrical malfunction on the Taoyuan Airport MRT caused a four-minute disruption to services on Thursday evening, impacting approximately 1,200 passengers and delaying 19 trains. Taoyuan Metro Corp. reported that the incident occurred at 7:18 p.m. when a circuit breaker was automatically tripped as a safety measure due to the malfunction.

Following standard operating procedures, the control center quickly identified and isolated the issue. Service was restored at 7:22 p.m. after the system was confirmed to be safe.

Taoyuan Metro Corp. stated that train intervals have been adjusted and a thorough inspection to determine the root cause of the malfunction will be conducted after the day's operations conclude. The company has extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused to travelers and is providing delay certificates at all MRT stations (excluding the unattended Xingnan Station) and via its official website for passengers who require them.

This incident marked the second electrical malfunction on the Taoyuan Airport MRT on Thursday. An earlier incident at 11:23 a.m. had also disrupted services for three minutes, affecting around 2,000 travelers and delaying 19 trains.
