Taiwan Braces for Widespread Heavy Rainfall Across 18 Counties and Cities

The Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory for 18 counties and cities across Taiwan, with the possibility of the rainfall continuing until the evening.

The weather agency highlighted that the development of convective cloud systems is leading to intense, short-duration rainfall. Today, areas including Taichung, areas north of Taichung, Nantou, and regions south of Chiayi, as well as mountainous areas throughout the island, have a chance of experiencing localized heavy downpours. Residents are advised to be aware of potential lightning strikes, strong gusts of wind, rising river levels, and hail. In mountainous regions, there is a risk of landslides and falling rocks, while low-lying areas should be prepared for potential flooding.
