However, upon purchasing and tasting the dish, a visitor discovered it was actually pork tongue. When questioned, the vendor reportedly admitted to the substitution. This incident, shared on the social media platform X, has sparked considerable discussion among Japanese netizens.

According to a report by Shueisha Online, the event took place at a local city festival. A stall prominently displayed "Sendai Beef Tongue 800 Yen." One attendee expressed their disappointment, stating, "I saw 'Sendai Beef Tongue 800 Yen' at a local festival, but when I bought it, it turned out to be pork tongue. They really know how to do business, treating customers like fools."
