Rising Hotel Prices in Taipei Surprise Japanese Influencer

A Japanese YouTuber with multilingual skills, Yohei Akiyama, recently visited Taiwan for a quick business trip and sightseeing. During his stay, he noticed that the cost of living in Taiwan has increased significantly, with hotel prices and transportation fares now surpassing those in Japan. He expressed his surprise that Taiwan's previously affordable prices are no longer the case.

On July 20th, Akiyama shared his experiences on Facebook, highlighting how expensive hotels in Taipei have become. He explained that in Japan, the typical travel expense limit for accommodation is about 10,000 yen per night (approximately 2,000 New Taiwan Dollars). However, during his trip to Taipei, his company’s unofficial budget seemed to be around 20,000 yen (about 4,000 New Taiwan Dollars). He observed that many hotel bookings by others ranged between 19,000 and 20,000 yen (roughly 3,800 to 4,000 New Taiwan Dollars).
