Taiwan Braces for Potential Wipha Impact: Meteorologist Wu Der-rong Forecasts Significant Rainfall Possibilities
Typhoon Wipha Expected to Form This Afternoon, Bringing Potential Heavy Rainfall Over the Weekend

The weather today is expected to be clear with scattered clouds in the afternoon, remaining hot. It is advisable to take precautions against sun exposure and heatstroke. Wu Der-rong, an adjunct associate professor in atmospheric sciences at National Central University, shared in his "Leaking Heavenly Secrets Classroom" column on the "Meteorological Application Promotion Foundation" that there is a chance of isolated showers in southwestern Taiwan this morning. In the afternoon, localized thunderstorms are anticipated in mountainous areas, with a possibility of extending to some nearby plains. Temperatures will range from 24 to 37 degrees Celsius in the north, 24 to 37 degrees in the center, 25 to 36 degrees in the south, and 23 to 36 degrees in the east.

Regarding the current tropical depression, it shows a trend of strengthening into a tropical storm. Wu Der-rong indicated that Typhoon Wipha is expected to form this afternoon. According to simulations from the European ensemble model for tomorrow through next Tuesday, Wipha is projected to pass north of Luzon, enter the South China Sea, and make landfall in Guangdong. The American ensemble model simulations show a similar trajectory. While the probability of issuing a sea warning has decreased, it cannot be entirely ruled out.
