Major Traffic Delays on Taiwan's National Freeway No. 1 Due to Roadworks

Authorities have issued an urgent advisory for commuters in Taiwan, urging them to alter their travel plans due to significant traffic congestion on National Freeway No. 1. As of early this morning, roadworks are underway on the northbound section between kilometer markers 357.8 and 354.8, near the Nanzi Interchange.

The ongoing road surface repair project has necessitated the closure of the outer lane, leading to a substantial backup of approximately 10 kilometers. The Directorate General of Highways (DGH) is strongly recommending that drivers avoid this affected stretch and utilize alternative routes to prevent further delays.

The DGH also reminds all motorists to exercise caution when approaching traffic control zones. Drivers are advised to reduce their speed, pay close attention to construction signage, and follow all guidance provided by traffic personnel. Maintaining a safe following distance is crucial to ensure the safety of all road users during this period.
