Farm Fire Erupts in Kinmen, Promptly Contained by Firefighters

Thick smoke billowed from a farm field in Kinmen, but swift action by the fire department prevented any casualties or significant damage.

A field fire broke out yesterday on farmland in Kinmen, in the direction from Shangyi towards the coast. The Kinmen County Fire Department's command center received a report at 6:08 PM on the 5th, indicating a large amount of smoke emanating from the area.

The command center immediately dispatched four fire trucks with nine personnel from the Second Brigade and its affiliated stations, along with volunteer firefighter 林英杰 (Lin Ying-jie), to the scene. Upon arrival, the fire was completely extinguished within 36 minutes. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities.

Upon arrival, the fire rescue team assessed the situation and found the fire had spread across an area of approximately 200 square meters. Given the proximity to the airport and strong winds, there was a concern that the fire could spread, potentially impacting flight safety and nearby structures. The incident commander, Deputy Brigade Chief 李忠仁 (Li Zhong-ren), immediately ordered the deployment of water lines, successfully containing and controlling the fire within seven minutes. Firefighters continued to douse the deeper embers to prevent any resurgence of the flames. Thanks to the rapid response, the incident resulted in no loss of life or property damage.
