Typhoon Danas Disrupts Taiwan Travel: Morning Flights Canceled

Taiwanese air carriers Mandarin Airlines and UNI Air announced on Sunday the cancellation of all domestic flights scheduled for Monday morning. This decision was made in response to the approaching threat of Typhoon Danas.

Mandarin Airlines has indicated that domestic flight services are expected to resume on Monday afternoon. The airline also plans to introduce additional flights connecting Taiwan's main island with the offshore counties of Kinmen and Penghu.

UNI Air has similarly confirmed the cancellation of all its domestic flights slated for Monday morning. The airline stated that services to the Matsu Islands (Lienchiang County) will be suspended for the entirety of Monday.

For other routes, UNI Air anticipates a gradual resumption of services in the afternoon. This includes supplementary flights to Kinmen and Penghu counties, aiming to accommodate passengers affected by the earlier cancellations.

As of Sunday afternoon, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) reported that the center of Typhoon Danas was situated approximately 180 kilometers south-southwest of Penghu County. The national weather agency noted that the typhoon was tracking north-northeast at a speed of 21 to 27 kilometers per hour.
