Large Fire Erupts at Taiwan Landfill, Engulfing Hundreds of Square Meters of Waste

A significant fire broke out at a landfill in Taitung, Taiwan, on the morning of the 5th, sending plumes of smoke into the sky and drawing public attention. The incident occurred at the Shanli landfill in Beinan Township at approximately 9:35 AM.

Upon receiving the report, the fire department swiftly dispatched resources. A total of 8 vehicles and 12 personnel from the Beinan, Nanwang, Special Search, and Taitung brigades were sent to the scene to combat the blaze.

Initial assessments indicate that the fire affected an area of approximately 400 square meters. While the flames were initially intense, firefighters successfully brought the situation under control shortly after their arrival. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries or individuals trapped at the site.

Firefighting efforts are currently focused on cooling down the area and extinguishing any remaining hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
